Anchorage Correctional Complex is comprised of two facilities, Anchorage Correctional Complex East (Constructed 2002), also known as ACC East and Anchorage Correctional Complex West (constructed in 1983), also know as ACC West.
Anchorage Correctional Complex houses inmates from classifications of minimum to maximum/closed custody, as it acts as an intake/pre-trial detention center and long term detention facility for the area. On average, the facility will process 60 inmates a day in and out of the facility, meaning this facility processes over 20,000 offenders each year.
Anchorage Correctional also acts as a non-criminal hold center for mental health and alcohol holds, and serves as a federal detention center for Alaska since the closest federal facility is in Washington State.
Programs provided by Anchorage Correctional Complex include adult education courses and the ability to earn a GED at the New Path High school in Anchorage Correctional East.
Anchorage Correctional Complex has a full medical unit, and an acute psychiatric unit.
