Mat-Su pretrial facility is an Alaskan correctional center that houses unsentenced male and female offenders awaiting trial. In addition, this facility also houses offenders who are transferring between detention centers. Because of this, the custody and classification levels may not have yet been established and inmates can be in a mixture of offenders.
Mat-Su Pre-trial facility is comprised of six general housing units and a segregation unit.
Many of the common programs that are offered to inmates are much shorter in duration. For instance many of the programs only last 3-8 days with intensive learning packed into long hours each day. Some of the programs offered include basic adult education courses, computer parenting and budgeting courses, as well as communication, and stress/anger management classes.
