The Norton Correctional Facility is a state-operated facility within the Kansas Department of Corrections. Originally built in 1914 as a tuberculosis sanatorium, Norton Correctional facility was later repurposed as the Norton State Hospital and Valley Hope Alcohol Treatment Center until 1987. Following renovations in 1987, it began serving as a state prison for minimum custody inmates, with medium custody inmates added in 1997. Norton Correctional Facility is designed to accommodate 975 minimum, low, and high-medium security inmates.
Norton Correctional Facility provides vocational training in carpentry, manufacturing skills, and building maintenance. Additionally, this prison partners with the second chance homeless pet society, allowing inmates to practice training and grooming dogs that are up for adoption.
