Opened in 1984, California State Prison Solano is a mixed custody facility with level II and III inmates. The facility is comprised of open dormitories in the level II and single/double occupancy cells in the level III. The capacity of this facility is around 5,800 male offenders.
Inmates at California State Prison Solano have vocational opportunities in masonry, building maintenance, computers, electrical, welding, carpentry, an fiber optics. Adult Basic Education courses and the ability to earn a GED are available to those incarcerated. Inmates can also work in laundry, metal fabrication, optical, and in a book bindery.
