Charlotte Correctional Institution is a mixed custody facility housing inmates of close, medium, minimum and community custody levels. The facility itself is divided into three sections, East, West, and Recreation. Housing units are comprised of six butterfly housing units with 112 two-man cells, divided into quads of 28 cells. The capacity of Charlotte Correctional Institution is 1,382 male inmates.
Vocational programs include masonry, wastewater and drinking water treatment operations. Inmates can participate in adult basic education courses and earn a GED while incarcerated. Addiction programs, life skills, stress and anger management, thinking for a change and other programs are provided to inmates.
