Cheshire Correctional Institution is a level IV security correctional facility. Most of the offenders at this facility are serving long term sentences. This prison is comprised of four inmate housing units. Inmates can participate in parenting, substance abuse, relationship, mental health, and self-efficacy programs.

Inmates in Connecticut can make outgoing telephone calls through a company called Securus. Securus charges a low rate per minute. You can setup an account here. Inmates can buy phone minutes using their inmate account.
In Connecticut anyone can deposit funds into an inmates account, even if they are not on an inmate's visitation list. These funds can be used to purchase an assortment of items from the commissary including food, stamps, and hygiene items. You will need the inmate's full name and identification number in order to send them money.
You can send inmates in Connecticut money in the following ways:
Search the Connecticut inmate database to get an inmate identification number, current location, offense, and sentencing information.
All visitors must have an approved visitors application on file before they can visit.
To visit you must first fill out and submit a Connecticut Inmate visitors application here. The inmate should request this application from their assigned counselor who will then forward the application to the prospective visitor. A copy of a valid government issued ID must be submitted with the application. Return the completed signed application to your inmate at the facility they are incarcerated in.
The application process can take several weeks and it is up to the inmate to inform you of your visiting status (denied or approved).

In person visits are unscheduled
Inmates are allowed three in person visits per week (one may occur on the weekend)
Inmates are allowed a single video visit each week.
Video visitation is also provided to inmates incarcerated in Connecticut, but you must be on the inmate's approved visitation list and must schedule your video visitation using the scheduling portal above.
Bring a valid government issued photo ID in order to enter into visitation.
You may bring a single debit or credit card to use in the vending machine.
