Holman Correctional Facility is a maximum security prison located in Atmore Alabama. It is one of the oldest correctional facilities in Alabama, and opened in 1969. It's primary focus is housing and executing Alabama's death row inmates. Holman Correctional Facility does not exclusively house maximum security inmates, it holds minimum all the way up to closed custody inmates. This is the only facility responsible for the execution of inmates.
Persons housed in Holman Correctional have access to education courses that enable them to earn a GED. Holman Correctional has an onsite industrial plant that manufactures all of the states license plate tags and a sewing factory responsible for creating the linens used at the other prisons in Alabama.
This facility was the topic of a documentary called Lockup:Holman which premiered in 2006. The documentary about this institution covered the notorious reputation Holman has for being the most violent prison in all of Alabama. If your inmate is incarcerated here don't worry, recent reports have shown a huge decrease in the violence levels at Holman and it's reputation comes from what the facility was like 10-20 years ago.

Visiting at Holman is restricted to immediate family members only. Inmates have alternating visitation days which is based on the first letter of the inmate's last name. Because the schedule rotates, you will need to contact the inmate either over the phone or by letter to see which day and time you can visit them.
