Idaho State Correctional Institution, situated in Kuna, Idaho, stands as one of the state's oldest and largest correctional facilities, capable of accommodating 1,446 adult male offenders. This facility has the distinction of being the entry point for all men who enter into the Idaho Correctional system. During entry they will undergo diagnostics and classification, this will help determine which programs and facility will assist in their rehabilitation the best.
While primarily housing long-term medium custody inmates, the institution also provides care for geriatric offenders and operates an outpatient mental health program. Notably, the facility features double razor wire fences patrolled by dogs, alongside seven towers manned by armed guards to prevent escape attempts. Inmates have the opportunity to acquire new skills through correctional industries, pursue education including GED attainment, and participate in religious services at the chapel.
