Jefferson Correctional Institution is an adult male facility established in 1989. Classified as a level four institution, Jefferson CI has a maximum capacity of 1,111 offenders, housing inmates across various custody levels, including close, medium, minimum, and community. The compound is divided into three sections.
The first section houses the main sally port for pedestrian and emergency vehicular traffic, the visitation area, a chapel, and several support areas including the intake and Classification Building.
The center section features seven open bay dormitories, each accommodating up to 143 inmates. Additionally, one cell unit is built as a Quad unit, with Units one and four housing 30 cells each and Units two and three hosting 32 cells each. Quads one, two, and three are utilized for confinement housing.
The third section houses the inmate recreation area, featuring a Recreation Building with offices, an equipment storage area, and a weight cage. Adjacent to this building is a pavilion equipped with tables, benches, and a television for inmate use. The recreational amenities include a full basketball court, two shuffleboard courts, a football field, a soccer field, a volleyball court, a calisthenics area, a walking/running track, and a table tennis area.
Inmates can participate in electrical vocational training, earn a GED, and receive substance abuse treatment while incarcerated at Jefferson Correctional Institution.
