The main facility is comprised of one single-cell housing unit, 20 multiple occupancy cell housing units, and 168 administrative and disciplinary segregation cells. The Main Unit has fourteen housing units, while the Annex has eight dorms and the Work Camp has two Open Bay Dorms. The Annex "S Dorm" Cell House contains four quads for general population and segregation inmates, while the "T Dorm" Cell House contains Close Management, Segregation, and Death Row inmates.
Vocational training at Lowell Correctional Institution include cosmetology, culinary arts, applied information technologies, equine care, manufacturing, heavy equipment operating, electrical, and the W.O.O.F. advanced dog handling program. Additionally, offenders can receive substance abuse treatment, and earn a GED while incarcerated.
