Pontiac Correctional Center is a maximum security prison that opened in 1871. The current capacity of this facility is 1,612 adult male offenders. Pontiac Correctional Center operates the satellite unit Pontiac Medium Security Unit which can house up to 431 inmates, but is currently vacant.
While incarcerated at Pontiac Correctional Center, inmates have access to academic courses in adult basic and general education. Additionally, residents are provided anger management courses, substance abuse treatment, mental health development, and parenting classes.
