Shawnee Correctional Center opened in 1984 and is a medium security prison that can house up to 1,848 adult male inmates. The facility is comprised of four X styled living units which house general population inmates. In addition, Shawnee Correctional Center has two segregation units, an infirmary, and a receiving/orientation unit for new inmates.
Offenders are provided vocational training in auto mechanics, career technology, and commercial custodial technician. Correctional Industries at this facility include metal fabrication/welding, recycling, and outdoor recreational furniture fabrication.
