Southwestern Illinois Correctional Center opened in 1995, and houses minimum security inmates. The current capacity of this facility is 733 adult males. This facility operates the satellite facility Southwestern Illinois Work Camp. Inmates at Southwestern Illinois Correctional Center attend substance abuse treatment five days per week. The substance abuse treatment is a group therapy session with a minimum participation amount of 15 hours per week.
Offenders are housed in four dorm style housing units. Vocational programs include horticulture, construction, warehousing, career technology, commercial custodial, and learn remedial skills. Life skills, inside out dad, fatherhood initiative, parenting, anger management, 12 step programs, and community work crews are just some of the opportunities provided at Southwestern Illinois Correctional Facility.
