Taylor Correctional Institution opened in 1994, and is a level five facility that houses adult male offenders of community, minimum, medium, and close custody levels. The main unit consists of eight housing units. Units A, B, D, and E are open bay dormitories. Units C and H are closed, and units F and G are utilized for confinement.
Taylor Correctional Institution Annex (temporarily closed) opened in 2002 and shares the same grounds as the main unit.
The capacity of Taylor Correctional Institution is 1,301 male adult inmates. During their incarceration offenders can receive vocational training in carpentry and plumbing. Additional programs are provided that include a 100 hour transition program that prepares offenders for release, a dog obedience training program, leadership training, parenting classes, and many more programs all devised to provide inmates with a new foundation of skills to utilize upon release.
