The Walton Correctional Institution is a level four-security facility that has the capacity to house 1,201 adult male inmates. The compound comprises eleven housing units, including nine open bay dormitories and two multiple occupancy cell housing units. The compound includes buildings for administration, medical & mental health, classification, Chapel, Barbershop, Programs, Re-Entry, Educational, Vocational, Law Library, Visitor Park, two exercise yards, laundry, cafeteria, and food service facilities.
Dormitories A and G are single-story buildings with dormitory-style beds, accommodating inmates with security level 4/medium or minimum custody level. Inmates in these dormitories have assigned jobs within the facility and only leave for external appointments, court appearances, or transfers.
Dormitory H is a two-story "T Dorm" designated for Administrative Confinement and Protective Management segregation. Dormitory Y is a two-story building with two-man cells for inmates on Disciplinary Confinement with security level 4.
Vocational courses available to inmates include HVAC, and residential carpentry/cabinetmaking. Additional programs are provided to inmates including re-entry programs conflict resolution, critical thinking, character building, budgeting and finance, addiction recovery, and self-mastery classes.
